Winter Moons Infinity Scarf


Here it is! The latest design is finally done. Thanks to Heather and her help making sure I have all my I’s crossed and T’s dotted…wait. Or wait…nevermind. The important thing is it’s done and ready for you crafty crocheters to whip one up. Enjoy the winter skies while bundled up in this simple, yet elegant infinity scarf. You know you want to.

Winter Moons Infinity Scarf

This pattern is written in US terms. It is worked in two strips of complementary colors joined at either end, or as a single continuous strip of a single color joined to itself.

Stitches:

 

    • ch = chain stitch

 

    • dc = double crochet

 

    • dc3tog = double crochet three together

 

    • sl st = slip stitch

Materials:

 

    • Worsted weight yarn (Weight 4). The scarf shown is made using Loops & Threads, Impeccable; True Gray and Butterscotch.  1 Skein each

 

    • Size J (6 mm) crochet hook

 

    • Tapestry Needle for weaving ends

Gauge: 

Each semi-circle measures approximately 3″ high by 5″ wide (measured across center). Finished measurements are approximately 60″ long and 6.5″ wide.

Moons/Semi-circles

 

Color A

Ch 6. Join with sl st to first chain to form a ring.

Row 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout). 8 dc in ring. Turn. [9 dc]

Row 2: Ch 3. Dc in same st. 2 dc in each remaining st. Turn. [18 dc]

Row 3: Ch 3. Dc in same st. *1 dc in next st. 2 dc in next st.* Repeat from * to * to last st. 1 dc in last st. Turn. [27 dc]

Row 4: Ch 3. Dc in same st. *1 dc in next 2 stitches. 2 dc in next st.* Repeat from * to * to last 2 stitches. 1 dc in last 2 stitches. Turn. [36 dc]

Row 5: Sl st in 17 stitches. Ch 4. Skip next 2 stitches. Sl st in next 3 stitches. Turn.

Row 6: 9 dc in ring formed by ch 4. Skip 2 sl st of row 5. Sl st in next sl st. Turn. [9 dc]

Row 7: 2 dc in each stitch. Skip 1 dc of row 5. Sl st in next 3 dc. Turn. [18 dc]

Row 8: 2 dc in first stitch. *1 dc in next st. 2 dc in next st.* Repeat from * to * to last st. 1 dc in last st. Skip 1 dc of row 5. Sl st in next 3 dc. Turn. [27 dc]

Row 9: 2 dc in first stitch. *1 dc in next 2 stitches. 2 dc in next st.* Repeat from * to * to last 2 stitches. 1 dc in last 2 stitches. Skip 1 dc of row 5. Sl st in next dc. Turn.

Rows 10-49: Repeat rows 5-9. [10 half moons]

Row 50: Sl st in 9 stitches. Fasten off leaving a long tail for join.

Color B

Repeat instructions for color A.

With moons facing the same direction, join one end of the first strip to the corresponding end of the second. Before joining the other ends, twist one side to form a moebius strip.]

Edging

Round 1: With Color A, join with sc to second dc from edge of joining half moons. Sc in next 4 stitches. *Dc3tog in last dc of current half moon, the joining stitch between the half-moons, and the first stitch of the next half-moon. Sc in next 5 sc.* Repeat from * to * around. Dc3tog in last dc of current half moon, the joining stitch between the half-moons, and the first stitch of the next half-moon. Sl sti in first sc. Join color B. DO NOT TURN.

Round 2: Ch 1. Sc in each stitch around. Join with sl st to first sc. Join color A.

Round 3: Ch 1. Sc in each stitch around. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Repeat rounds 1-3 on other side of scarf.

 

Finishing

Hide ends and block.
